Day 01: Delhi
On arrival in Delhi Transfer to hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Delhi – Darjeeling by flight.
Morning after breakfast transfer to domestic airport to board the flight to Bagdogra (nearest Airport to Darjeeling).Arrive at Bagdogra and transfer to Darjeeling (2 –3 hrs drive). Check in hotel on arrival and then after lunch half day site seeing tour of Darjeeling. Visit the Dhirdham temple, and tea plantations. Evening free in the market. This lovely little hill station in the Eastern Himalayas was established as a summer retreat for those members of the British Raj based in Calcutta.
Day 03: Darjeeling.
The tour of the town starts with an early morning visit to Tiger Hill the highest point in Darjeeling. The views from this point, especially of Mt. Everest and Kanchanjunga are simply breathtaking. On your way backstop at the Ghoom Monastery, the holiest monastery in Darjeeling. After breakfast at your hotel proceed for a sightseeing tour of the town visiting the Himalayan Mountaineering institute with its photographs of various mountaineering expeditions, the Tibetan Refugee Self help centre where one can see traditional Tibetan Handicrafts being made. Again evening free in the market. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04: Darjeeling – Gangtok by surface. (95 Kms, 3-4hrs).
After breakfast, travel by road to Gangtok covering a distance of 95 kms (03 hrs). Check in at hotel on arrival and then Your tour of the town starts with a visit to the Tsuk la Khang or the royal Chapel, the place where the former Chogyal or ruler of Sikkim would pray, the Institute of Tibetology which promotes research into Tibetology, the memorial chorten whose gold apex is visible from all parts of Gangtok, the Orchid sanctuary where one can see many of the 454 species of Orchids found in Sikkim. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05: Gangtok – Kolkata (Calcutta) by flight.
After breakfast transfer to Bagdogra to take the flight to Kolkata.On arrival transfer to hotel. Evening free in town to explore yourself. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06: In Kolkata
The city of Calcutta is perhaps India at its fascinating best and worst. The city with its chaos, crowds and innate charm can be criticized or liked but never ignored. Your tour of the City of Joy starts with a visit to one of the best museums in India if not in Asia, the Indian Museum. The museum has a fascinating collection of meteorites fossils and some fine examples of Buddhist Gandharan Art. The next stop on your tour is the Victoria Memorial the white marble structure built in honour of Queen Victoria and inaugurated in 1921 by the then Prince of Wales. Proceed on to the Ochterlony Monument or the Shaheed Minar the 48m high tower dedicated to the memory of Sir David Ochterlony. Your tour ends at the Birla planetarium, one of the largest in the world. Come back to hotel for overnight.
Day 07: Kolkata (Calcutta) – Mumbai (Bombay) by flight.
After breakfast take the morning flight to Mumbai, the business capital of India. Also famous for BOLLYWOOD, the Indian film Industry is located here. Arrive at Mumbai and check in hotel. Afternoon go for half-day site seeing tour. Come back to hotel for overnight.
Day 08: Mumbai
Excursion to Elephanta caves in the morning and then again city tour in the afternoon. Visit places like Gateway of India and Film city. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09: Mumbai – Cochin by flight.
Afterbreakfast take the flight to Cochin and check in hotel on arrival. Relax with an AYURVEDIC body massage in the hotel spa for relaxation. Spend the afternoon rejuvenating. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10: Cochin
Day out in town for city tour, evening again in health spa for rejuvenation and Ayurvedic Massage. Overnight in hotel.
Cochin – now also known by the name Kochi, is a beautiful place blended with diversified attraction. With its wealth of historical associations and its beautiful setting on a cluster of islands, Cochin is one of India’s most cosmopolitan cities.
Your tour of the city starts with a visit to fort Cochin with the first stop being the St.Francis church, India’s oldest European built church. Proceed on to the large pastel colored Santa Cruz Basilica.. Strung out along the tip of Fort Cochin the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets provide an interesting sight. The next stop on your tour of Cochin is the Mattanchery palace, the home of the former Raja of Cochin. The palace houses an interesting collection of murals from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata etc. The last stop on your tour of Cochin is the Jewish Synagogue or the Magen David. Synagogue. Constructed in 1568, this is the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth. Overnight in hotel.
Day 11: Cochin – Periyar by surface.(200kms,4-5hrs).
After breakfast, travel by road to Periyar covering a distance of 200 kms (04 hrs). Go for the wild life safari in the evening. Overnight at Hotel. Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is an 800 sq kms sanctuary in Thekkady on the border of Tamil Nadu and is one of the most important National Parks in India. It boasts of elephants, bison, antelopes, sambars, wild boars and if one is lucky, even tigers. Periyar is the best sanctuary in India for watching and photographing elephants at close quarters. What makes Periyar fairly unique, as a forest is that game viewing takes place either by small boats through the lake or even on foot.
Day 12: Periyar – Kumarakom by surface.(200kms,4-5hrs).
After breakfast, travel by road to Kumarakom covering a distance of 200 kms (04 hrs). Check in at Hotel Coconut Lagoon. Overnight at Hotel / Resort.
Day 13: In Kumarakom
Day out in backwaters of Kumarakom in boat cruise. Overnight in hotel. Just an hour drive from Cochin lays the beautiful Vembanad Lake and the Kumarakom bird sanctuary. An ideal place for backwater cruises, Kumarakom offers world class resorts situated on the edge of the backwaters from where one has an ideal opportunity to not only relax but to also experience the village life of Kerala.
Day 14: Kumarakom – Cochin – Delhi by drive & flight.
After breakfast drive back to Cochin (85 km, 2 hrs drive) to take the flight for Delhi to arrive at Delhi in the afternoon. Transfer to hotel on arrival. Overnight in hotel.
Day 15: Delhi – Agra by surface.(245kms,4-5hrs).
After early breakfast leave for Agra by Road. Your tour of Agra city starts with a visit to the Agra fort, a massive sandstone fortress started by Emperor Akbar in 1565 and completed by his grandson Emperor Shah Jehan. Proceed on to Itmad-ud-Daulah, the tomb of Mirza Ghiyas Beg, the chief minister and later father in law of emperor Jehangir. This tomb resembles the Taj in terms of architectural style and is also known as the baby Taj. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 16: Agra – Delhi by surface. (245 Kms, 4-5hrs). Early morning visit the monument of love, the stunningly beautiful Taj Mahal to see it in the sunrise light. It was built by Emperor Shah Jehan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. The construction of this building was started in 1631 and was completed in 1653. Come back to Hotel for breakfast and then leave for Delhi by road after a brief shopping. Arrive Delhi in the evening, transfer to Hotel. Later in time transfer to International Airport for Onward Journey.
