About The Trek
Mustang a part of Tibetan plateau in the North West of Nepal is one of the most isolated and restricted trekking area which has been opened very recently in 1992 for the foreigners. This is the part of Nepal which is most inhabited by Tibetans where Buddhism thrives since ancient times. This is one of the rare off the beaten trek and very less frequented by trekkers. The modern world is too far away for the people thus they still follow the old living style. Perhaps the government intend to keep this region eco-friendly and unspoiled by limiting big group and mass travel thus this part requires a special permit for US$710 per person for 10 days, $910 per person for 13 days and $70 per day thereafter. The permit fee for this itinerary is $1,050. The starting and ending point for all treks in the Mustang region is Jomsom, which can only be reached by plane. Trekking in Mustang is truly one of the rarest and most rewarding experiences to be had in Nepal.
