Fed by innumerable streams they race along tortuous boulder strewn beds, cutting deep gorges and breaking into silvery white rapids. With the intricate network of mountain rivers flowing through a myriad of different colours of rocky gorges, forests, flowers and high mountain villages, the Garhwal and Kumaon hills provide ideal locales for the perfect water adventure. River Rafting in India

Shivpuri is a small village 18 km from Rishikesh (the town famous for Yoga festivals ), now famous world over for white water rafting, Kayaking and exotic river beach camping. Generally a stretch of 35 km of the river is undertaken for beginners but Ganga provides a longer stretch of up to 150 kms for the expeditions, starting on the upper sections of Ganga, namely Bhagirathi and Alaknanda and can take up to 06 days on strenuous white waters with rapids up to grade IV+.

DAY 01: DELHI – SHIVPURI
Leave from Delhi to arrive in the afternoon at the camp. Check in on arrival and relax after lunch. Go for a nice nature walk in the evening or visit Vashisht Gufa ( a temple of Rishi Vashisht inside a natural cave just few kms from the camp). Camp activities like Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Kayaking, Dune Jumping, trekking and beach volleyball are at disposal for your use this evening. Time permitted you can go for a short jungle walk. Camp fire & sing song is followed by a buffet spread dinner.

DAY 02: SHIVPURI
An early morning wake up call is in order if you want to enjoy the clean mountain air and the misty Ganga valley. The early morning walk will take you into some of the last virgin forests in India. A stroll through the dense tropical foliage amidst bird sounds and morning sun rays filtering through the leafy trees is a gentle but strong awakening for the city dwellers. Return to camp for a well deserved, hot breakfast.

At approximately 10:30 hrs you will depart for your most exciting day on the river. On arrival at Marine drive the river guide will brief the group on do’s and don’ts. After the instructions start your tryst with the river wild. Negotiating grade 3 and grade 4 rapids like the three blind mice, Roller Coaster and Golf Course provide for an unequalled and unforgettable experience. Today one will have plenty of time to indulge in body surfing, cliff jumping and sunbathing on the rafts while the rafts gently float down towards the pull out point at N.I.M. beach. Hot buffet lunch spread with tea and coffee will await your arrival. After lunch and lounging around on the beach you board your buses to return to camp for another relaxed evening on our beach camp. Sing song with bon fire and dinner is the order of the evening.

DAY 03: SHIVPURI – DELHI
We save the biggest for the last. Today is an early start after breakfast at 0700 hrs. We drive for 15 minutes to rock site at Byasi for Rappelling. Today, we do one of the easiest but thrilling mountaineering activity the RAPPELLING. Finish the activity and then drive back to the Camp for a quick lunch before commencing your journey back.

These trips are for more adventurous rafters and involves camping on the river side on virgin beaches during the trip on day two three and four. Starting in Rudraprayag it Covers a stretch of about 150 kms to reach Rishikesh. A great trip for nature lovers as river flows through the thick forest throughout.

RAFTING EXPEDITION On “GANGA”

Duration:     06 Days / 05 nights

Day 01: Delhi-Shivpuri
Early morning leave for Shivpuri to arrive late in the afternoon. Breakfast and freshening up at Cheetal grand and Lunch on arrival at camp at Byasi.  Introduction about the expedition after evening tea and snacks. Dinner and overnight at camp.

DAY 02:
After breakfast in the morning start from camp to reach Devprayag ( The starting point for Ganga Expedition 42 kms). Offer your prayers at the confluence and then Briefing and introduction with staff before starting the expedition. Today negotiate a relatively easy stretch on the river and get used to the river. Reach Kuadiyala in the evening through river after a nice first day. Leave rafts at Kuadiyala and drive down to the camp. Dinner and Overnight at camp.

DAY 03:
After breakfast restart your journey and reach marine drive to take hot lunch on the beach. On the way negotiate rapids like Daniel’s Dip and The Wall ( If it is safe at thattime ) along with a few small rapids. Restart after lunch to reach Shivpuri afternegotiating cross fire, body surfing and three blind mice on the way. This is the most exciting day on the river and one enjoys it to the full. in the evening and again set up camp for overnight.

DAY 04:
After the breakfast start your last day on the river and negotiate rapids Return to sender, Roller coaster, Golf course, Initiation etc. Lunch en route at Beach. Finish your tryst with river in the afternoon and after that visit local places of interest and come back to camp zn the evening. Overnight at camp.    

DAY 05:                                  
After breakfast leave for Mussoorie via Dehradun (120 kms). On arrival check in hotel and relax after a four days roughing out with river. Evening free on The Mall. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

DAY 06:          

After breakfast leave for Delhi. Lunch en-route.  Arrive Delhi in the evening.

Weekend program

Friday :
Leave Delhi in the afternoon by your own car (or by Jan Shatabdi at 3 : 30 PM to reach Haridwar by 7: 30 PM to get transfer by our car to camp, another 40 min. drive ) and reach Escapade Beach Camp by evening. On arrival check in camp and dinner and overnight at camp.

Saturday :
After a night in fresh surroundings wake up and breakfast a nice and gentle nature walk. After that your date with the river starts in Shivpuri on 18 kms ( Longer run is also possible with extra cost ) stretch of the river and after does and donts negotiate Grade III rapids like Roller coaster and Golf course along with Grade II like return to sender, tea off, club house, initiation and double trouble to end your day at camp for Lunch. after lunch just relax in the warm sun or more energetic can also go for a short but nice trek to a beautiful water fall near the camp. Come back on the evening for bonfire and dinner. Overnight at camp.

Sunday :
For those who like to be close to nature irrespective of time, its an early riser at 5:00 AM and leave for KUNJAPURI. a high point at 6000 ft. to witness the great spectacle of sun rising above the snow bound high Himalayan peaks. More adventurous can trek down ( 9 kms to reach camp for lunch ) or just drive down back to take breakfast. After Lunch leave for Delhi by car to reach by evening. ( or leave for Haridwar if traveling by Shatabdi express in the evening at 6:00 PM and visit chandi devi by cable car in the afternoon and also visit Har ki pauri reach Delhi at 10 :30 PM

Super Deluxe Accommodation

Escapade Camps offer comfortable twin bedded luxury Swiss cottage style tents with attached changing room and shower. Ours is the only Camp to have a dry sand flushing system in our toilets which makes it the most clean and hygienic wash rooms with western style sitting. Hot water is available for washing in buckets on demand. Camp has a large dining area with 24 hrs tea and coffee available with cookies. Its simply the best camp in the area.

Deluxe Accommodation
The camp Hammock has twin sharing deluxe safari tents (A-Frame) with separate, shared bath and western style dry pit washrooms which are common. Hot water is available on demand for washing. Camp has a separate area for dining and also the distinction of the only camp which is drive in. No other camp in the area is drive in. Also its again the only camp where a mobile phone works and therefore you can keep in touch with rest of the world while being in the wilderness.

HOW SAFE IS WHITE WATER RAFTING?

Whitewater river rafting is so exciting a sport that the risks involved in it are worth taking. At escapade we do everything to minimize the risk element and to maximize the fun and excitement. Safety is of utmost importance for us and before every trip we have a safety orientation and outfit you with a life jacket that keeps you afloat even in rough water and helmet that saves you from getting any head injury.

Our guides raft year round, and have all run class II to class V water and are experts at not only running the river, but at making your day trip or camping expedition a memorable event.

DO WE HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM?

One cant swim in rough white water and as you are wearing a life jacket all the time life on the river and are designed to float you face up, you do not to know swimming to go river rafting! The guides instruct you before the trip on what to do in the small chance (more likely on higher grade adventure trips) of you falling in the river.

WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM AGE LIMITS?

With more than 11 different trip options for people ages 8-60, you are sure to find the trip that is right for you. All trips have recommended age limits. These age limits do fluctuate depending on the water level.

MINIMUM NO. OF PEOPLE REQUIRED TO MAKE A TRIP?

No minimum limit is there and you can join as single person and we will put you up with other singles or doubles to make a group and enjoy the fun and excitement of this wonderful sport.

IS PRIOR RAFTING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY?

Ganga is one of the ideal and safest rivers for white water rafting for beginners. No prior experience is required at all to make a trip. As it is said, you have to do it first time to make a beginning and then once you have done we assure you will become an addict.

WHAT ABOUT A CUSTOMIZED TRIP FOR US?

We try to be as flexible as possible with our groups. All you have to do is call up our office and pass on details of your requirements. Accordingly we will offer you a all the available options with the desired changes to suite you.

WHAT DO I NEED TO CARRY FOR A RAFTING TRIP?

You need to bring shorts, swim suit, cap, t-shirt, keds, sneakers, beach sandals, windcheater, sun block, sun shades, flashlight, and a dry set of clothers for your ride home. Prepare to have everything that you wear to get wet. Also please do not bring valuable items (i.e. Expensive clothes or shoes, jewelry, non-waterproof cameras or other items) on the raft.

CAN CHILDREN DO RIVER RAFTING?

12 years and older children can go along with the adults while the smaller children can do the grade 1 and 2 float trips. Even if the child or for that matter even an adult doesnot want to try out rafting they can still enjoy the river beach, the camping experience and the other activities.
