Nanda Devi Kuari Pass Trek
 

This complete trip is a combination of the two famous moderate treks of the Garhwal Himalayas which gives the beautiful views of the Himalayan peaks.

Nanda Devi Sanctuary is one of the beautiful places of the world with the untouched beauty. The famous peaks around the sanctuary are Nanda Devi, Dunagiri, Trisul, Changabanga, and Hanuman etc. There are many other peaks that have not yet been named. Nanda Devi sanctuary is reopened for the trekkers in 2003 after a long gap of about 27 years.

Kuari Pass trek is famous name in the history of trekking. Kuari Pas is situated at a height of 4258 mts. From here one gets to see the lush green valley of Tapovan on one side and the Nanda Devi Sanctuary peaks on the other. Kuari Pass trek is famous for the panormic view of the Himalayan ranges, one gets a 360 degree view from the top of high Himalayan ranges.

Detailed Itinerary

Duration: 15 Nights / 16 Days
Trek Type: Moderate.

Day 1: Delhi – Rishikesh.
Morning connect train for Haridwar at 06:55 hrs. On arrival transfer to Rishikesh. Check in riverside beach camp. Overnight at beach camp.

Day 2: Rishikesh – Joshimath. 255 kms, Alt: 1890 Mts.
After an early breakfast we drive to Joshimath. Enroute stop for lunch at Srinagar. On arrival check in hotel Mount View. Joshimath is known for its winter seat of Badrinath Shrine. The deities are brought down here during the winter season and worshipped in the Narsimha Temple here during winters. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Joshimath - Lata Village. Drive 25 Kms, 1.5 kms trek, Alt: 2317 Mts.
Spectacular journey by jeep to the road head near Lata Village. Then we trek to Lata village, which is 1.5 km from the road head. We visit the Nanda Devi Temple and explore the distinctive culture of the region. Overnight in the village.

Day 4: Lata Village - Lata Kharak.  8.5 kms trek, Alt: 3689 Mts.
Today trek an 8.5 km steep climb. The climb is strenuous but extremely rewarding as the glimpses of the peaks are mesmerizing. We reach Lata Kharak, which is a high plateau with high peaks surrounding it. We try and wrap up the trek in 6 hours but could take upto 9 hours so we move very early in the morning. Overnight in Camp.

Day 5: Lata Kharak - Dharansi Pass. 10 kms trek, Alt: 4250 Mts.
We wake up to view mighty snow-clad peaks all around, viz., Dronagiri, Nanda Gunthi and many more. Today, we take a steep climb to Jhandi Dhar and Bagfyana Pass. From here the trail ascends and descends through the Narrow gorge of Satkul to Dharansi Pass. Overnight at Camp.

Day 6: Dharansi Pass - Debrugheta - Dharansi Pass. 8 kms trek round, Alt: 4250 Mts.
Today we continue trekking to the Malthuni - Bethratoli Ridge's of the inner and outer sanctuary form a magnificent pass upto Rani Kholi and Donidar. The trail is a steep descent of about a kilometer to Debrugheta. Return to Dharansi Pass by late afternoon. Overnight at Camp.

Day 7: Dharansi Pass - Hitoli Camp Site. 11 kms trek, Alt: 2900 Mts.
We cover a distance of 11 km. From Jhandi Dhar a steep descent of 4.5 km to the Hitoli camp site through thick forests of Rhododendron, Birch and Fir. Overnight at Camp.

Day 8: Hitoli Campsite – Joshimath. 8 kms trek, Alt: 1890 Mts.
Today trek for 8 km. The trail takes us through the village of Tolma to the roadhead from where it is a 30 km drive to Joshimath. The trek is through thick forests. Overnight at Hotel Mount View.

Day 9: Joshimath – Auli – Gorson Top. 3 kms trek, Alt: 3650 Mts.
Morning after breakfast leave for Joshimath. Lunch and lift up by cableway to Auli. Walk up until bugyals from here we can observe Nanda Devi, Dunagir and Trisuli. Watch sunset over the Nanda Devi. Overnight at Camp.

Day 10: Gorson top – Tali. 6 kms trek, Alt: 3506 Mts.
After breakfast wind up camp and leave for Tali which is another high altitude meadow. The trek al along the ridge on this day and magnificent high Himalayan views are the highlight of the day. On arrival camp overnight.

Day 11: Tali – Khulara. 11 kms trek, Alt: 2896 Mts.
Once again a great day on the trek to take you to the base of Kuari Pass at Khulara. Camp overnight.

Day 12: Khulara – Kuari Pass – Khulara. trek 8 kms round trip, Alt: 4268 Mts
After early breakfast leave for Kuari pass (4268 mts) and enjoy the magnificent view of the high Himalayan peaks from there. Come back in the evening to again camp overnight.

Day 13: Khulara – Tapovan – Joshimath.  trek 12 kms, 15 kms drive. 
Final day on the trek starts early and we come down on the road in Tapovan (1829 mts) near the hot water spring. On arrival drive back to Joshimath to check in hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 14: Joshimath – Srinagar – Rishikesh. 255 kms 
Morning after early breakfast drive for Rishikesh. Enroute stop for lunch at Srinagar. On arrival check in the riverside beach camp. Overnight at camp.

Day 15: Rishikesh.
Morning after breakfast explore river Ganges on the trip of white water rafting. Day free in the city. This will be a grand finale to your adventurous trip to Himalayas with white water rafting on one of the safest rivers for beginners with rapids up to grade III+  Enjoy the evening on the river beach camp with bonfire. ( You can also opt for staying in a hotel on this night ). Overnight at camp.

Day 16: Rishikesh – Delhi.

Early morning transfer to Haridwar railway station to connect train for Delhi at 06:25 hrs. Reach Delhi at 10:40 hrs.
